The Sooke Skate Park is showing its age.

The Sooke and Electoral Area Parks and Recreation Commission (SEAPARC) wants some user feedback on what a renewal project might look like.

The community is invited to attend an interactive design workshop on May 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at SEAPARC Recreation Centre, 2168 Phillips Rd.

SEAPARC board chair Al Beddows said the goal is to create a park that is locally inspired.

Radius Contracting, which has designed and built skate parks for 18 years, is leading the concept design project.

Built in 1997 by the Rotary Club of Sooke, the park is operated by the Capital Regional District’s SEAPARC Recreation Centre.

“Anytime we can plan and support outdoor spaces like these, particularly ones that are a recreational hub for our youth, it is a great investment,” Sooke Mayor Maja Tait, noting the skate park is in “significant need of repair.”
