A person was found dead on the Dallas Road waterfront in Victoria on Sunday morning.
Victoria police say no criminal activity is suspected. The B.C. Coroners Service has taken over the case.
David Lemieux said he was jogging along the waterfront in Ross Bay about 7:50 a.m. when he saw the deceased lying on their back on the rocks over the retaining wall. Police officers were on the scene, and hesaid it appeared that the individual had been dead for some time.
When Lemieux returned about an hour later, the person had been covered with a blue blanket.
B.C. Emergency Health Services spokesperson Andrea Visscher said in a statement that two ambulances were dispatched to the area shortly after 7:30 a.m. for a medical incident, but no patients were transported to the hospital for treatment.
