Saanich fire crews responded to a car fire on the Patricia Bay Highway on Monday.
The fire department issued an alert about the incident, in the southbound lanes near Haliburton Road, just before 3 p.m., warning that traffic would be disrupted.
By 3:30, firefighters had extinguished the blaze and traffic in the area was flowing freely.
The driver was able to get out of the vehicle safely, the department said.
