Police say a man who suffered a medical emergency while driving on the Trans-Canada Highway Tuesday morning died at the scene.
West Shore RCMP and paramedics responded to a report of a flat-deck tow truck going off the road and stopping in the median on the highway near the Helmcken Road off-ramp shortly after 10 a.m.
First responders determined the 49-year-old man had experienced a medical emergency while driving and they performed CPR, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The incident reduced the highway to one lane into Victoria.
