Two people are dead following a head-on crash Thursday evening on the Inland Island Highway south of Fanny Bay.
A woman in her 80s was southbound on Highway 19 north of Cook Creek Road about 6 p.m. when she crossed the grass median and collided with a vehicle on the northbound side of the highway, police told CHEK News.
She died at the scene of the crash.
Two people were in the other vehicle and both were taken to hospital. One of them later died, police said.
No names have been released.
The highway was closed in both directions for several hours.
