A sailboat moored off Store Street was a total loss after a fire early Monday.

The damage to the boat, estimated at up to 24 feet long, was put at about $10,000. Nearby vessels worth about $2 million were unaffected.

No one was aboard the vessel at the time of the fire, said Victoria Fire Department Capt. Brian Elvedahl. Its burned remains were still at the dock, close to Capital Iron, on Monday.

Firefighters responded at 2:13 a.m.

“When crews got there the fire was fully involved,” said Elvedahl. “The first-on-scene engine was able to extinguish the fire and contain it to the one vessel.”

Other vehicles and one of the department’s fire boats also attended, and a fire inspector was called in to examine the scene.
