Salt Spring Island RCMP have found a body believed to be that of a 36-year-old man who was reported missing in mid-March.
Foul play is not suspected.
The disappearance of the man led to an extensive search of the northern portion of Salt Spring Island, using land, air and marine crews. Police continued to work on the case and on April 7 were alerted to the discovery of a man’s personal items near a beach trail in the island’s Southey Point area.
The body was located in the water off the point, about 45 metres from shore, through the use of an underwater camera by the RCMP’s West Coast Marine Section.
