Are you associated with or running as part of a slate? If so, which one?
no
Do you live in the municipality where you are running, and if so, for how long? If not, what is your connection to that community?
Yes, on and off for 18 years
What is your occupation, and for how long?
Farmer/Entrepreneur
Tell us about your previous elected and/or community experience.
I’ve been attending council meetings for the last few years. I am a farmer and active member of the community.
Why are you running? What’s your motivation?
I honestly feel like it’s a responsibility. I feel like I’m a very practical person and could step up and help make good decisions on behalf of my community.
What are your top three issues?
Fiscal responsibility, Metchosin is going to face some very difficult financial decisions, such as the policing cost, in the near future.
Maintaining the rural nature of Metchosin while being responsible in our response to the issue of our larger world, for example, I would support amending the land use bylaw to include tiny homes
As a farmer I’m very concerned with food security and the issue of farm succession.
What’s your vision for your community in 25 years?
In 25 year, I hope to see Metchosin maintained and nurtured into a more resilient agricultural hub. We’re still going to need food in 25 year. Hopefully more of our local food can come from Metchosin.
What’s one “big idea” you have for your community?
I have a couple things I would like to propose. One is a community orchard and the other is a tool library or possibly even a co-op woodshop where people can come and work on projects and learn new skills.
