Leanne Salter
Electoral Area F
Are you associated with or running as part of a slate? If so, which one?
No
Do you live in the municipality where you are running, and if so, for how long? If not, what is your connection to that community?
Yes. I grew up in my electoral area and have been here for over 55 years.
What is your occupation, and for how long?
I worked for the Ministry of Advanced Education and Retired after 21 years at the Ministry of Social Development
Tell us about your previous elected and/or community experience.
I am the incumbent RDN Electoral Area Director for Area F. Prior to that I was a city councilor in Parksville, BC. In addition, I was the alternate Director for RDN Electoral Area F.
Why are you running? What’s your motivation?
I am running as there is a lot of work in progress such as the OCP. We are also starting an incorporation study in Area F and this has been a study that the community gave me as a mandate when I was elected. It has been tried in the past but did not get to referendum. I am hopeful we will give our community the opportunity to make this decision.
What are your top three issues?
1. Complete the OCP
2. Have a referendum on incorporation
3. Continue to advocate for residents in the area.
What’s your vision for your community in 25 years?
This is a rural area and has been since I was a child. Although we have had a lot of change, both myself and the community indicate keeping the quiet, respectful rural lifestyle.
What’s one “big idea” you have for your community?
I would like to have a dinner train (from the 1940’s) do trips from Coombs up to Cameron Lake and back.
