What is your occupation, and for how long?
Retired from a career in Real Estate
Tell us about your previous elected and/or community experience.
I was Elected to council in 2018 having retired from a career in RealEstate. On Council, I serve on a number of committees. The Chamber of Commerce, The Cowichan housing Association, and the Cowichan housing and homeless coalition. I am the City Rep for the Joint Utility Board, and Chairman of the Official Community Plan. I also serve on the tourist advisory committee working with local businesses.
Why are you running? What’s your motivation?
coming from a background in Real Estate I recognise that Housing (and the lack thereof) across the board is causing serious social and economic problems. I have committed my term on Council to assist all levels of housing from Homeless shelters through to assisted living, Rent subsidized housing, and on to market rentals and Condos of all price structures.
I will continue to strive for this goal, believing that we must help when help is needed .
What are your top three issues?
Top three issues are Housing, street issues, and affordability
What’s your vision for your community in 25 years?
I see Duncan as a community which practices inclusion for all. |Recognising that those who live here exist in an area blessed by an abundance of peace and prosperity.. More than a bedroom community of Victoria and Nanaimo it achieves its place as a quaint and quiet community with all the required amenities of a larger town .
What’s one “big idea” you have for your community?
One idea is bringing back boarding houses, to provide clean comfortable affordable accomodation, This will help allow The city of Duncan to shelter all levels of its citizens.
