Are you associated with or running as part of a slate? If so, which one?
No I am not
Do you live in the municipality where you are running, and if so, for how long? If not, what is your connection to that community?
Yes, I do. I am a fifth generation Sookie and have chosen to raise my children here as well.
What is your occupation, and for how long?
I have been a Licensed Practical Nurse with Orthopedic Technician training at Island Health since 2007.
Tell us about your previous elected and/or community experience.
I am the current President of Sooke Minor Fastball, the fundraising chair for the Sooke Sailing Association, various coaching or managing positions with my children’s sports, classroom parent prior to covid and very excited to get back into the school and help in any way I can.
Why are you running? What’s your motivation?
I believe that being a Councillor is the ultimate way I can serve my community. I am motivated to have Sooke be somewhere that my children can choose to raise their families should they have them.
What are your top three issues?
Infrastructure needs to catch up and maintain with the increase in population. Sooke is the second-fastest growing community in the CRD in terms of population and we need realistic and feasible plans to have our infrastructure keep up.
Sooke’s number one emission by a significant margin is on-road transportation. We should be looking at opening auxiliary routes within the town itself to alleviate the burden on HWY 14 and get people home and off the road faster.
I would also like to see a revitalization and better utilization of our current green spaces as well as increasing these spaces.
What’s your vision for your community in 25 years?
A place where my children can afford to have their own families. A town with affordable housing and jobs to support both individuals and families
