Stewart Parkinson
Are you associated with or running as part of a slate? If so, which one?
No
Do you live in the municipality where you are running, and if so, for how long? If not, what is your connection to that community?
Yes
Tell us about your previous elected and/or community experience.
I am an incumbent having served one term previously as a councillor
Why are you running? What’s your motivation?
Life has been kind to me and I believe in giving back to my community. The future for Colwood is bright and with caution and care Council is on a position to influence that for the better
What are your top three issues?
We are close to finishing our work on understanding the risks and opportunities with our waterfront that will occur over time due to sea level rise, storm and tide and possible tsunami’s. I would like to assist in getting this work to the finish line.
Council has recently authorized work on seven of the 11 priority active transportation projects and I would like to see the last four initiated.
And of course fiscal prudence to stretch taxpayer dollars as far as possible.
What’s your vision for your community in 25 years?
I believe that in 25 years we will have sensational waterfront parks and walkways complemented by trails and parks throughout the community.
Transportation around neighbourhoods will be by driverless electric buses that connect to frequent bus service throughout the region
And the national park proposed for Colwood will complement the other amenities throughout the community.
What’s one “big idea” you have for your community?
