Nanaimo RCMP Const. Mitch Gordon watches vehicles during the BCAA-sponsored “Slow Down and Move Over” awareness campaign at Nanaimo Parkway and Northfield Road in Nanaimo on Thursday.
During the event, a tow truck with its flashers on was parked on the west side of theparkway and southbound drivers that did not pull into the far lane and slow down as required were directed into the rest stop by Nanaimo RCMPtraffic members.
There, they were issued warning letters by Nanaimo RCMP Community Policing volunteers, who used the opportunity to informthem about the importance of providing emergency vehicles sufficient space to safely carry out their duties.
