Langley waits for $50-million Lotto Max winner to step forward

Fraser Valley residents have been buzzing about Friday’s $50-million draw and flocking to local lotto retailers to check if they have the winning ticket.

Fraser Valley residents have been buzzing about Friday’s $50-million draw and flocking to local lotto retailers to check if they have the winning ticket.

“We’ve noticed today we’ve been constantly talking about how there’s been a $50-million winner,” said Aldergrove Otter Co-Op gas bar employee Paulina Gander. “It’s been the talk of the town.”

The B.C. Lottery Corp. announced that the winning ticket was sold in Langley.

Gander said people usually check their tickets on Saturday mornings after a draw, but this Saturday was busier than usual.

“Pretty much it’s been non-stop,” Gander said.

The giant jackpot had gone unclaimed for four previous draws.

The winning numbers for Friday’s draw are 3, 4, 5, 7, 31, 33, 40 and a bonus of 49.

Also up for grabs were 50 MaxMillions prizes of $1 million each, and claims are being made on 17 of them. Among the MaxMillions winners was a ticket bought in Surrey.

Because of unclaimed MaxMillions, the jackpot for next Friday’s draw will already rebound to an impressive $43 million.
