VANCOUVER — A Porsche and two BMWs were impounded for speeding Sunday evening between Abbotsford and Langley and their young male drivers, two of whom were unlicensed, were given driving prohibitions and violation tickets.

The driver who did have a licence only had a learner’s permit. None were the registered owners of the expensive automobiles, although none of the vehicles were stolen.

Two of the drivers were 19 and the other was 20. Two live in Richmond and one is from Vancouver.

The cars were allegedly travelling at speeds between 130 and 160 kilometres per hour.

Cpl. Rob McDonald of the Lower Mainland District Traffic Services said in a statement that reports indicated “the vehicles were weaving through traffic and using the right-hand shoulder to overtake other cars.”

Police stopped a black 2013 Porsche Panamera, a white 2012 BMW 750 and a white 2013 BMW M5, all of which were impounded for seven days. One driver failed to provide registration, which carries an $81 fine. The driver with the learner’s permit got a $109 ticket for not displaying the required ‘L’ on the back of his vehicle and another $109 for not having a licensed driver with him.
