Staff at Saanich civic hall are currently processing a tenant improvement building permit for retailer Joe Fresh at Uptown, and there are rumours the next one to hit the desk at the municipality will be for tenant improvements for H&M at the shopping centre.

Details of the permit were not available.

According to Geoff Nagle, Morguard Investment's director of development for Western Canada, these are just the latest in what will be a series of permit applications at the $300 million mixed-use development.

Because tenants like to make their own announcements, Nagle said he could neither confirm nor deny either Joe Fresh or H&M were coming to Victoria.

H&M, or Hennes & Mauritz, is a budget fashion chain based in Sweden and employs about 100,000 people worldwide.

Joe Fresh, a division of Loblaw Co., is based in Toronto and claims to be the top apparel brand in Canada with its lines of trendy inexpensive clothes and beauty products.

The latest permits are on the heels of Californiabased Forever 21, opening next year, doing leasehold improvements at Uptown.
