Phillips Brewing & Malting Co. will open a new craft beer bar in Save‑On-Foods Memorial Centre this month.

The bar is under construction in the main entrance on Blanshard Street and is expected to be open when the Victoria Royals take on the Prince Albert Raiders on Oct. 18.

Robyn Skinner, marketing director at Phillips Brewing, said the company won a request for proposals to operate a craft brew bar at Western Hockey League games, concerts and other special events at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. The deal is “multi-year” and includes pop-up kiosks to sell Phillips canned beer around the concourse area.

Skinner said four on-tap beer offerings as well as cans will be available.

“We are excited to partner with SOFMC and further foster building community and local connections here in Victoria” said Skinner. “In being home to the Victoria Royals and regularly hosting large-scale concerts and other special events, we see Phillips Beer selling well at these events and being a natural brand fit. We believe in the power of community collaboration.”

Matt Cooke, events general manager at the arena, said the bar partnership allows the area to offer a “unique, local experience for our guests. We’re proud to elevate the fan experience by offering brews that reflect the vibrant spirit of Victoria.”
