Teamsters Canada is increasing strike pay for members by $100 to a maximum of $300 a week, making it the highest strike pay of any Canadian union. The Teamsters says that while strike benefits vary depending on the member's employment status, most Canadian workers represented by the union will benefit from the increase. Teamsters Canada president Robert Bouvier said there is $50 million in its strike fund. Teamsters Canada has 125,000 members, while the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, with which Teamsters Canada is affiliated, has 1.4 million members in North America.
