Houle Electric chief executive Robert Lashin addresses a crowd at Camosun College’s Interurban Campus Tuesday during grand-opening celebrations for the Lionel Houle Electrical Shop at the school.
The naming, after the company’s founder, reflects Houle Electric’s commitment of $75,000 to the school.
Camosun’s electrical program trains 100 foundation students and 600 apprentices at any given time, and the shop has doubled in size.
Houle Electric, started in 1944 in Port Alberni and now based on the mainland, has offices around the province and employs about 1,400.
