Victoria Hospitals Foundation chief executive Avery Brohman has been named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 professionals by the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy.
Brohman was one of 12 Canadians to receive the award at a ceremony Friday in San Diego.
Alice Ayres, president and chief executive of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, said the 2024 40 Under 40 class has raised a combined $5 billion for charities across North America during their careers.
Under Brohman’s leadership, the Victoria Hospitals Foundation has achieved its highest fundraising revenues, including raising $15.4 million last year.
“I see firsthand the measurable impact I can make for everyone in the community I call home. … I love my career,” Brohman said. “It’s an honour to represent the generosity on Vancouver Island here in San Diego this week.”
The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy is an international professional organization dedicated exclusively to development professionals who encourage charity in health-care organizations. Association members represent about 2,200 health-care facilities around the world.
The Victoria Hospitals Foundation hosts its biggest fundraising event of the year, the Visions Gala, on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Empress Hotel.
As part of the fundraiser, the Victoria Hospitals Foundation is auctioning off a private box suite for 14 people for Taylor Swift’s sold-out Dec. 7 Eras tour concert date in Vancouver. The suite comes with a $2,500 food and beverage credit donated by B.C. Place.
While the Visions gala live and silent auctions are restricted to guests, the Swifties package is available to the public through proxy bidding. As part of the auction package, you can submit your maximum bid online at VictoriaHF.ca/tswift before 7 p.m. on Nov. 16.
The top three proxy bids will be represented by designated bidders during the Visions live auction at 8:50 p.m. on Nov. 16.
