Watch at least 10 artists at work, attend art-making workshops or purchase children's art in Centennial Square all this week, as the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria brings art to the public.
Paint in the Square is a way to commemorate the City of Victoria's 150th anniversary as well as a lead-up to Saturday's TD Art Gallery Paint-In, formerly known as the Moss Street Paint-In, which marks its 25th anniversary this year. "This is an incredible opportunity to celebrate Victoria's 150th anniversary and the vibrant arts community and history we have here in the capital city," said Victoria Mayor Dean Fortin. "
Paint in the Square will feature artists at work in their outdoor studios, as well as an art exhibition and sale of artwork by elementary school children.
The event is free. It runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until Friday in Centennial Square downtown. For more information, go to aggv.ca or call 2503844171.
The TD Art Gallery Paint-In, the Island's largest outdoor visual arts event, is expected to attract up to 35,000 people to Fairfield's Moss Street on Saturday. The event features 150 invited professional and emerging artists from Victoria, who take their studios to the street.
