Blake Shelton will headline Lake Cowichan’s Sunfest country music festival in 2023, it has been announced.
The Nashville-based Shelton, 46, will make his Vancouver Island debut at the popular festival, which is set for Aug. 3–6 at the 250-acre Laketown Ranch Music and Recreation Park. The nine-time Grammy Award nominee, whose hits include Boys ‘Round Here, Mine Would Be You, and God’s Country, will close Sunfest on Sunday, Aug. 6.
Other headliners will be announced in the coming months, according to organizers Wideglide Entertainment.
Shelton is among the biggest stars in country music today. Since 2011, he has been a coach on the hit NBC reality TV series The Voice, which also features his wife, No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani. Though the festival is among the most popular on Vancouver Island, his appearance is expected to drive ticket sales in the early going. U.S. stars Darius Rucker and Hardy headlined Sunfest in 2022, which drew close to 10,000 people.
Camping passes and tickets for the festival go on sale Friday at 9 a.m. through sunfestconcerts.com.
