Organizers behind one of the city’s largest annual events — the Victoria Symphony Splash — have cancelled its upcoming edition.
The 31st edition of the Victoria Symphony event, which attracts upward of 40,000 people to the Inner Harbour each year for a day of classical music and night of fireworks, was to be held Aug. 5. The summer staple has now been moved to Aug. 1, 2021, due to concerns over COVID-19, the Victoria Symphony said in a statement.
“Obviously this is disappointing, but completely understandable,” said Victoria Symphony CEO Kathryn Laurin. “We look forward to hosting a wonderful summer event next year.”
The symphony has also cancelled its entire summer season of concerts, including performances at Butchart Gardens.
