It’s not every day that a genuine wartime hero comes to town.

Last week, an original Boeing B-17 “Flying Fortress” heavy bomber, which made its name in Allied bombing runs during the Second World War, arrived at the Victoria Flying Club for public viewing and sightseeing flights.

The B-17 heavy bomber, which played an important role for the Allies in bombing German targets during the Second World War, was at the flying club for public tours and flights.

Times Colonist photographer Bruce Stotesbury got to take to the skies and capture the historic aircraft in (peacetime) action.
