THEATRE

What: Atomic Vaudeville's Halloween Cabaret

Where: Victoria Event Centre, 1415 Broad St.

When: Oct. 26, 27, 31, Nov. 1, 3 (doors 7: 30 p.m., show 8 p.m.)

Tickets: $18/$22 (ticketrocket.org or at the door)

Why: It's hard to believe, but Atomic Vaudeville - Victoria's most irreverent and original comedy troupe - has been around for eight seasons. For this, its 58th episode, the gang stages a Halloween show: The Metamorphobia Masquerade (Dance My Little Insects Dance). This event also marks the introduction of something called the "Kanye Lounge," a new VIP service that allows Kanye Lounge pass holders to get in first, score primo seats and get first dibs at the bar. Expect nutty dance routines, topical songs and crazy monologues from these talented folk.

ART

What: Martin Machacek, 10-year retrospective art exhibition

Where: Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria

When: Opening tonight, 7-9 p.m. Runs through Nov. 5

Why: Feel like an acid trip, without the acid? Machecek has an uncanny ability to warp familiar buildings into colourful, wonky spaces that seem alive with movement. His formal training as an architect gave him a thorough understanding of perspective necessary to distort his audience's. Check out what "architectural etherealism," really means. - Amy Smart
