In January, I was one of 5 local residents in Victoria to be chosen as one of the Times Colonist Health Challenge members.
I was inspired to write 150 words about why I should be chosen to be one of the 5. Apparently there were well over 350 who also entered. God was working in my life that day.
That selection has given me a personal trainer, Kevin Clarke, for 3 months, consultations with Heather from Pure Nutrition Consulting during the challenge, support from Frontrunners, The Market Stores, Island Farms, the Times Colonist and PISE.
Moreover it's an opportunity to grab and install some health and balance in my life. I sure needed it. There could have been a little denial there. I always thought I was only a couple workouts away from game shape. Ugh.

The support I have received from fellow TC readers, the public, friends, family and especially Ally my wife, has been great and inspiring. I kind of feel like a bit of a celebrity again. BC Lions 1982-1987
I am proud of my achievements so far and in the future I look forward to cracking the 300 lb barrier. Not bench press but body weight. Ok maybe bench press too.
