New-mother Duff sells Toluca Lake mansion

Singeractress Hilary Duff has sold her Toluca Lake estate for slightly less than its asking price of $5.5 million US. The buyers are designer Don Stanzione and Sheri Callan, owner of Callan Advertising, which focuses on the independent film industry.

The reinvented Mediterranean mansion, built in 1951, features a central courtyard, high ceilings, an industrial-style kitchen, a gym, a billiards room, multiple offices, art and dance studios, a bar, five bedrooms, six bathrooms and 9,277 square feet of living space. There is also a swimming pool and spa next to an outdoor living room on the nearly half-acre walled property.

Duff, 24, who had her own Disney Channel show during her teens, became a mother in March. Since the former teen idol starred in Lizzie McGuire (2001-04), she has appeared in Gossip Girl (2009). Her film work includes the Cheaper by the Dozen movies (2003 and 2005), The Cinderella Story (2004) and the 2012 comedy She Wants Me. Among her albums are Metamorphosis (2003) and Dignity (2007). She also has launched several fashion lines and written a series of three youngadult novels.

Public records show Duff bought the property in 2004 for $3.5 million. She married former pro hockey player Mike Comrie in 2010.

SOAP STAR GOT RESTLESS

Actress Michelle Stafford, who stars on The Young and the Restless, has parted with her home in Los Feliz for $2.145 million US.

The Daytime Emmy winner restored the 1933 Mediterranean Revival estate and sold because she was ready to move on to a new project.

The 4,533-square-foot house, designed by architect Horatio W. Bishop, features period details including leaded stained-glass windows and decoratively painted ceiling beams. The entry rotunda is replicated in the lower-level guest suite and leads to a terrace. The master suite, one of four bedrooms, has a round walk-in closet. Five bathrooms feature custom tile work. There is a three-car garage.

Stafford, who turns 46 on Sept. 14, joined the soap opera in 1994.

Public records show she bought the property in 2007 for $2.525 million and listed it last year for $2.449 million.

GOLDWYN'S OLD PAD STAYS IN CHARACTER

The Fuller House, once home to early film producer Samuel Goldwyn, is on the market in Hollywood Hills West at $4.895 million US.

Built in 1916 and designed by Arthur S. Heineman, the Neoclassicstyle property has been restored. Features include a multi-room master bedroom suite, a screening room, Batchelder tile fireplaces and maid's quarters. There are seven bedrooms, six bathrooms and 6,488 square feet of living space. The half-acre grounds include walking paths, an outdoor living room, a guesthouse and a pool.

Goldwyn, who died in 1974 at 94, is known for such films as The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) and Guys and Dolls (1955). He co-founded Paramount and Goldwyn Pictures, later called MetroGoldwynMayer.

Public records show the property last changed hands in 2005 for $4.9 million.

MODEL REMODELLER REVEALS RESULTS

Model-actor Jason Shaw has listed his contemporary in the Hollywood Hills West area for $3.65 million.

Built in 1992, the threelevel house features a floating staircase, high ceilings, glass walls that slide out of sight and touch-pad controls for sound, lighting, temperature and security. There are three bedrooms, three bathrooms and 4,100 square feet of living space.

Shaw, 38, gained notice as an underwear model for Versace, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger. His acting stints include roles on Charmed (2003-06) and Third Watch (2004-05).

Public records show he bought the property in 2010 for $925,000. Shaw, who has a passion for architecture and design, was actively involved in the renovation.
