When Stuart McLean visits Victoria next week, he's ready to talk turkey.

New turkey, that is. McLean is a broadcaster and humourist best known for his CBC Radio program, The Vinyl Cafe.

These shows feature the popular Dave and Morley stories. One of the best known is Dave Cooks the Turkey, about a hapless husband who tries to prepare a Christmas feast.

The tale has long been a feature of his touring show. But McLean said he'll serve up a new turkey tale at the Royal Theatre on Monday and Tuesday night. It's about how Dave visits his daughter and her boyfriend at Christmas, where he's served turkey.

For Canadians, The Vinyl Cafe radio show provides an excuse to gather together, McLean said from his Toronto home this week. "Sisters who live in different parts of the country will listen and then phone each other to talk about it."

Along with another new Dave and Morley story, McLean's show will feature music by The Vinylettes and Vancouver musician Reid Jamieson.

Victoria singer-songwriter Andi-Lyn Krieger will also perform.

Eighteen-year-old Krieger, a native of Campbell River, won her spot on the show by entering a CBC Radio contest, singing over the phone.

"It was really, really last minute. It was my mom who forced me into it. I said at first, 'I'm not going to do it, Mom,' " Krieger said.

She will sing Santa Claus is Coming to Town and hopes to perform one of her own compositions.

Krieger is taking first-year arts at the University of Victoria. But she says her primary ambition is to perform.

"I'm planning to get noticed as a singer-songwriter," she said. "That's my passion."
