To serve and protect:

As Victoria has grown, so have the capabilities of the people who keep the community safe. These are some of the many ways the Victoria Police Department does its job

Motorcycle: The Victoria Police Department has 11 members in its traffic unit. Officers are usually first on the scene at vehicle collisions, arriving on their Victory Commander I motorcycles designed specifically for police use. Several of the officers are crash-reconstruction experts.

Cruiser: Patrol officers in black-and-white Dodge Chargers are the most visible element of the Victoria Police Department. Officers in the patrol unit are the department's first responders and the backbone of the system. They start every investigation and have a diverse set of skills. VicPD adopted the Charger in 2010, anticipating the discontinuation of the Ford Crown Victoria.

Bicycle: Bike cops provide proactive policing downtown and in surrounding neighbourhoods. Bikes are part of the focused enforcement team, which also includes beat and traffic cops, two community-resource officers and an officer from the Victoria Integrated Community Outreach Team.
