Volunteering

The Maritime Museum of B.C. loves all things nautical, especially unique treasures of our province. A visit to the museum reveals Tilikum, a sailboat that sailed the world, and Dorothy, the oldest sailing yacht on the Pacific Northwest Coast.

The Maritime Museum of B.C. loves all things nautical, especially unique treasures of our province. A visit to the museum reveals Tilikum, a sailboat that sailed the world, and Dorothy, the oldest sailing yacht on the Pacific Northwest Coast. Current exhibits include What Lies Beneath, a look at the past, present and future of deep sea exploration, and Ready Aye Ready, the artwork of marine artist Robert McVittie. The Tsunami Debris Project aims to identify and return flotsam and jetsam to its owners. With all these exciting exhibits and projects on the go, the Maritime Museum needs your help. Share your love of shipwrecks, heritage vessels and pirates by volunteering in one of the many positions available. For example, reception/gift shop volunteers handle museum admissions, retail sales and related tasks. Shifts are four hours with a regular weekly schedule preferred. Training is provided and volunteers receive museum membership, gift shop discounts and a vast knowledge of maritime history. Please call 250-385-4222 x101.
