A magnitude-3.0 earthquake was recorded off southern Vancouver Island Friday morning, about six kilometres northeast of Oak Bay and east of Gordon Head.
The earthquake was recorded about 8:45 a.m. according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake hit at a depth of 21.4 kilometres.
Several residents across Greater Victoria reported on social media that they could feel the impact of the quake.
One Oak Bay resident wrote on the Oak Bay Local Facebook page: “That was the largest earthquake I have felt in a long time…over by Willows…and loud!!”
Someone else who lives near Estevan Village said the quake shook his old house.
