48-year-old ATV rider killed in crash near Nanaimo

A 48-year-old man is dead after crashing his all-terrain vehicle outside of Nanaimo on Saturday. The accident occurred in the Nanaimo Lakes area, west of Nanaimo, about 8 p.m., according to B.C. Coroners Service spokeswoman Barb McLintock.

The accident occurred in the Nanaimo Lakes area, west of Nanaimo, about 8 p.m., according to B.C. Coroners Service spokeswoman Barb McLintock. The man lost control of his quad while driving on a logging road with friends.

The B.C. Ambulance Service, RCMP and Nanaimo fire rescue responded.

The man died in hospital, McLintock said.

“He did make it to hospital, but he was dead shortly after arrival, despite their best efforts.”

The coroners service is investigating.
