6.4-magnitude earthquake off Port Alice 'lightly' felt

The earthquake was recorded July 11, 2024, at a depth of 10 kilometres.

A 6.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded just after 8 a.m. Thursday about 183 kilometres southwest of Port Alice, at a depth of 10 kilometres.

The quake was “lightly” felt, according to Natural Resources Canada. No tsunami was expected.

It was one of four quakes recorded in the area on Thursday between 8 a.m. and 10:34 a.m.
