Police shut down the Bay Street Bridge on Saturday morning to investigate a vehicle crash that caused two people to be taken to hospital.
In a statement posted to social media shortly after 6:30 a.m., Victoria Police said officers were investigating a crash that occured around 4 a.m. on Saturday and that the Bay Street Bridge would be closed to traffic for investigators.
On Saturday morning, officers were seen placing markers on the road leading to a damaged grey sedan located on the south pedestrian walkway of Bay Street near the intersection of Bay Street and Pleasant Road.
Two car occupants were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Victoria police spokesperson Cheryl Major said police can’t comment on why the crash happened as the investigation is ongoing.
Police said the roadway reopened about 11:45 a.m.
