Bear sightings Monday in the area of Kerryview Drive, near Prospect Lake, serve as a reminder that people in outlying areas should always secure their garbage containers, says Saanich police Sgt. Steve Eassie.
Numerous containers were overturned.
Eassie said it is not unusual for bears to be seen at this time of year. Bears are becoming more active with the onset of spring, he said, and they are attracted by the smell of garbage.
