Campbell River RCMP officers responding to a report of a female overdosing at the city’s courthouse Monday ended up helping four people suffering from apparent overdoses.

Naloxone, which reverses the effects of opioids, was used to revive one person. All four were taken to hospital and are expected to survive.

“This again demonstrates the dangers of opioid drug abuse,” said Const. Maury Tyre. “In this case, the four people were very fortunate that someone found them in distress or it could easily have been the end of their lives.”

B.C. Ambulance and the Campbell River Fire Department also assisted, he said.
