Tracy Samra’s court date in Nanaimo has been adjourned again, this time to May 1.
A B.C. special prosecutor is seeking a peace bond for Samra, Nanaimo’s chief administrative officer, who is on paid leave from the city.
Samra was arrested by RCMP following allegations of threats uttered at Nanaimo City Hall, said the special prosecutor.
The matter had been set for April 10, after being rescheduled from March.
It is common for appearances in provincial court to be adjourned for various reasons.
Samra’s lawyer Robert Mulligan said Monday that the matter was adjourned to gather information and discuss the matter with the prosecutor.
The court document describing the application states that Nanaimo Mayor Bill McKay and councillors Sheryl Armstrong and Dianne Brennan, city staffers Sheila Gurrie, Jan Kemp and Donna Stennes, former municipal employees Brad McRae and Kim Fowler, and online journalist Dominic Jones have “reasonable grounds to fear” that Samra will cause personal injury to them, based on an incident Jan. 31 in Nanaimo.
