Cast-iron dragon stolen from Nanaimo home

Investigators have canvassed nearby residents looking for witnesses or surveillance footage without success

Thieves stole an 82-kilogram cast-iron dragon from the front porch of a Nanaimo home.

The dragon, purchased 46 years ago, was reported missing on the morning of Sept. 3.

Nanaimo RCMP said the owner told police the dragon holds “significant sentimental value” because it was bought when she and her late husband were a young couple.

The dragon has been placed at the front of all the homes they owned over the years, police said.

Investigators have canvassed nearby residents looking for witnesses or surveillance footage without success.

Call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 with any information.
