Students at Central Middle School were sent home early Thursday due to sewage issues, but will return to classes Friday.
The students were released about noon after school officials were advised not to allow use of the washrooms, said Greater Victoria school district spokeswoman Lisa McPhail.
Arrangements were made for students to stay at school if they did not receive permission to leave early.
The City of Victoria was informed about the situation in case it was related to city infrastructure.
The problem turned out to be a blockage in a drain and debris in a sewer line.
Central Middle School is at 1280 Fort St.
