The Victoria Clipper V is expected to sail into Victoria’s Inner Harbour Friday for the first time since it had to cancel its short-lived fall schedule due to low ridership.
With testing requirements at the border now a thing of the past, the Clipper will once again start ferrying passengers between Victoria and Seattle on Friday, with the first vessel from Seattle set to arrive in Victoria at 10:45 a.m.
Idled by the pandemic for two years, the company tried a re-start last fall, but shut operations down when low passenger numbers made it unworkable.
At the time, company spokesman Scott Meis noted testing was too much of an obstacle for the average traveller from Seattle to take a quick weekend getaway to Victoria.
The company said it had steady bookings for the spring.
Travellers to Canada still have to be fully vaccinated and enter their information into the ArriveCAN app on their smart phones.
Canadian travellers entering the U.S. are required to show a passport and proof of vaccination status.
