Commercial building in Nanaimo's Old City Quarter damaged in fire

Firefighters battled a large structure fire at a commercial storage facility in Nanaimo’s Old City Quarter on Monday evening. Multiple fire trucks responded after a blaze broke out at about 5 p.m. in the 300 block of Selby Street.

Firefighters battled a large structure fire at a commercial storage facility in Nanaimo’s Old City Quarter on Monday evening.

Multiple fire trucks responded after a blaze broke out at about 5 p.m. in the 300 block of Selby Street.

The storage facility was being used by Pioneer Fireplaces, and had previously been used by Sidney Tire.

Nearby residents were told to close their windows to avoid the thick smoke from the fire.
