Courtenay-Alberni NDP MP Gord Johns will once again represent his party in the upcoming federal election.
Johns was acclaimed as the NDP candidate for the Oct. 21 general election in Canada at a meeting of about 100 supporters at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre held from 1- 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, said Kevin Brown, interim president of the Courtenay-Alberni NDP Riding Association, on Monday.
At the meeting, Johns talked about the challenges ahead: “We don’t have to look far to see how much people are struggling in our country and around the world, the environmental challenges that we are facing are immense and there is inequality in our communities.”
Johns noted housing, universal pharmacare and dental care, good paying jobs and climate change as priorities, said Brown.
He told supporters he’s spoken in parliament more than 500 times in his three years as the representative for Courtenay-Alberni.
