Crash closes one lane of Trans-Canada Highway in Langford; commuters heading south should expect delays

Travellers heading south toward Victoria should expect delays this morning, RCMP say.

A southbound lane of the Trans-Canada Highway is closed and traffic is being diverted at Leigh Road after a crash Tuesday morning.

West Shore RCMP say crews are on the scene of a collision involving a dump truck near Spencer Road.

One southbound lane is closed and traffic is being diverted at Leigh Road (Exit 16), according to the Transportation Ministry’s Drive BC website.

A notice posted by Sooke School District 62 said some buses were delayed by about 20 minutes.

West Shore RCMP say the cleanup is expected to take several hours. Drive BC estimates the highway will reopen at 11 a.m.

Police recommend allowing for extra commuting time for people headed into Victoria or Langford via the Trans-Canada.

Highway cameras show southbound traffic backed up on the Trans-Canada Highway at West Shore Parkway as well as at Millstream Road.
