Paper Excellence plans to temporarily shut down part of its Crofton mill for two weeks starting Sept. 10 to reduce costs.
The company said 95 employees will be affected by the temporary production curtailment, which has been timed to coincide with scheduled annual maintenance on the site.
According to the company, the outage will reduce energy costs through this period.
The employees will be handed temporary layoff notices.
The Crofton mill employs about 560 people and has started making food-packaging paper while maintaining its traditional printing and writing-grade products.
