A 33-year-old man has died after being found with stab wounds on a downtown Duncan street early Saturday.
North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are investigating the death as a homicide.
Police were called about 3 a.m. to a report about an injured man. They found him in the area of Kenneth Street and Jubilee Street. B.C. Ambulance took him to hospital where he died.
“Police have been able to determine that the deceased is a 33-year-old man from Duncan and efforts are now underway to notify his next of kin,” said B.C. RCMP spokeswoman Dawn Roberts. “Investigators did close off a wide area as it appears the victim moved through the downtown area before being located. We are asking anyone that may have heard or seen what happened or has any information about the incident to please call police.”
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is investigating the death and can be contacted at 250-380-6211.
There is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public, RCMP said.
