B.C. conservation officers issued eight violation tickets to drivers transporting loaded firearms and also found open alcohol in a vehicle during hunting-compliance checks on Vancouver Island over the Remembrance Day long weekend.
Written warnings were also given out, including one to a novice driver for carrying too many passengers, the B.C. Conservation Officer Service said in a Facebook post.
The officers came across close to 200 people during their patrols — 85 of them hunters — and also helped the RCMP with a search-and-rescue call about two overdue hunters.
The hunters were found safe.
The weekend effort led to an ongoing investigation into the unlawful harvesting of wildlife, the post said.
