An erratic driver was arrested early Saturday morning after multiple witnesses called 911 complaining of a black pickup truck swerving on the Patricia Bay Highway.
The 29-year-old male driver was travelling southbound on the highway near Sayward Road around 5:40 a.m. He swerved off the road near Elk Lake and knocked over a street lamp, sending it onto the road. Another driver later hit the post, rendering the vehicle undriveable. Injuries are unknown at this time.
The erratic driver continued southbound, hit a concrete highway divider and was stopped minutes later by Saanich police on Royal Oak Drive at Elk Lake Drive.
He blew over twice the legal limit and was arrested for impaired driving. The man was released on promise to appear in court.
