Langford firefighters battled a motorhome fire on the side of the Trans-Canada Highway on Tuesday night, causing two lanes to be shut down.

Langford Fire was called about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to tackle a fire in a older-style recreational vehicle that had pulled onto the shoulder of the road.

“When we arrived, it was fully engulfed in flames,” said Langford assistant fire chief Geoff Spriggs.

The driver, the vehicle’s lone occupant, was out of the vehicle and there were no injuries.

The northbound lanes of the highway just before Millstream Road were closed for about 30 minutes while firefighters knocked down the blaze, Spriggs said.

The burned-out shell of the RV was towed away Tuesday night.

Langford’s fire inspector will investigate. The cause of the fire is not known.
