A former Victoria city staffer has been convicted of sexual assault and sexual exploitation in Alberta for offences more than a decade ago.
According to Alberta court records, Richard Antony Elliott was sentenced to six years in prison for offences in Taber, Alta., between 2006 and 2008.
Elliott was an executive assistant in the mayor and city manager’s office, and he reported to the manager of executive operations in that office, city spokesman Bill Eisenhauer said in a statement.
Eisenhauer said the city was made aware of the charges while Elliott was away on approved leave
“The city had no prior knowledge. This happened while he was living elsewhere,” Eisenhauer said. For privacy reasons, the city does not disclose personnel matters, and Eisenhauer could not discuss the dates of Elliott’s employment with the city.
