A fourth patient has tested postive for COVID-19 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
The outbreak is limited to the hospital’s high intensity rehabilitation unit, Island Health said. No other areas of the hospital are affected.
The first patient tested positive on Monday after developing symptoms. All patients and staff in the unit have been tested.
Island Health said it has implemented precautions, including enhanced cleaning and contact tracing, and testing of staff continues.
The unit is not accepting new admissions and staff are restricted from moving between units, Island Health said. As well, no patients in the unit awaiting transfer to long-term care or assisted living will be moved.
